The idea’s of social codes, power, rules and capitalism are explored in this game prototype. The stage is introduced as an analogy drawn in order to see late capitalism as a game, where ‘the winner’ is based on ‘moving first’ instead of one‘s talent or experience. After this it comes down to a mix of acting quickly and getting to know the opponent.
We have to see ourselves not only as viewers, powerful or powerless participants in some kind of pre-ordained reality scenario, but also as part of the game itself. Perhaps then we can begin to act out our own participation: Not questioning, “what/who am I?” but rather “who/what can I become?” The intuitive flexibility to respond and act to the other one’s action is put to the test and transformed into the composition and the identity of the stage and chess pieces.
